This Server Tech Rack PDU (Power Distribution Unit), also known as a CDU® (Cabinet Distribution Unit), is a Smart Rackmount PDU with PIPS™ (Per Inlet Power Sensing).
Smart Rack PDUs provide remote power metering at the circuit level and remote environmental monitoring, which means power & temperature metrics can be gathered and reported on a per cabinet basis. Additionaly, the Server Tech Smart with PIPS PDUs will also monitor the power infeed/inlet to the PDU to monitor Current Load (A), Voltage (V), Power (W), Apparent Power (VA), Crest Factor, Reactance, Accumulated Energy (kWh), and Power Factor per Inlet.
Blade servers and high density computing power requirements continue to increase within the Data Center, creating heat proliferation and more challenges for managing the IT environment. To maintain their competitive advantage, data center managers need solutions such as Sentry Smart units with PIPS that monitor, track and manage servers and IT equipment and the equipment cabinet infrastructure that houses them.
Sentry Smart with PIPS has all the features and functions of an Intelligent Cabinet PDU with the ability to provide remote power monitoring and environmental monitoring per cabinet. This combined with the Server Tech SPM (Sentry Power Manager) appliance creates a powerful combination allowing managers to accuratley determine power consumption and environmental conditions at various levels throughout the data center.
